Andie Marks, known as “Party Girl” in her college days, is now a whip-smart lawyer on the fast track to success. Determined to move on from a bad break-up, she joins her girlfriends for a wild bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas, promising to let her hair down just this once.

Vegas is a blur of cocktails and blackjack, and in the middle of it all she meets Mack, a real-life cowboy with a winning hand and an irresistible body. They get lucky in the casino and luckier back at the hotel, a hot night of passion that was definitely not part of Andie’s life plan.

By dawn Mack is gone and all she has to remember their one-night romance is a hangover and a pile of casino chips. Or so she thinks.…

If your in the mood for a really good humorous, sweet, fun, and sassy read? Then look no further! Shine Not Burn by Elle Casey is definitely a book I recommend to EVERYONE! Yes, Everyone!

Meet Mack (Gavin) Mackenzie and Andie Marks:

Yes this picture alone makes me want to grab the book and devour it a second time!

Andie (Andrea) Marks has a lifeplan, and nothing and nobody will ever get in the way of it.

“I’d drafted the first version of what became known as my lifeplan, the document that laid out the route that would lead me to my goals: independence, safety, and financial success.”

Andrea goes to Vegas for her Best Friend Kelly’s bachelorette party and puts a kink in her “lifeplan” and doesn’t even know it until 2 years later….

Andie is on her way to Vegas, gets a text from Puke, oops I mean Luke breaking up with her (which isn’t the worse thing in the world)  Andie isn’t really good at choosing men. Probably has something to do with that “lifeplan” of hers.

“He’s not that bad” Andie Said. “Not That bad? Yeah, right. What did he get you for Valentines day this year? Oh yeeeeaaaah, that’s right! A gift certificate for liposuction”

Luke is definitely not the kind of guy you want your BFF dating. And her friends let her know it! Andie’s 2 amiga’s have finally convinced her to let loose, at least while in Vegas.
The girls decide to hit the casino, and that’s when Andie see’s this gorgeous Cowboy across the room… Setting her sights on him, she heads over…. After spilling her drink on the hot cowboy, and having a totally embarrassing, yet hilarious encounter she definitely lets loose! Andie ends up bringing Mack (Gavin) Mackenzie up to her room to have a very good time.

Mack is a lot like Andie. Driven, career minded, successful, serious, and doesn’t really let loose or do anything too crazy. Until he meets the stunning Andie.

These two had incredible chemistry and they were absolutely flipping hilarious! I swear I busted up laughing so many times

“Sweet Jesus, he’s hung. That’s some kind of magic, the way he somehow fits that thing into pants”

That night they had crazy monkey sex, and talked. Mack confessed he didn’t want this to end… But the next morning, He was gone, and all she had to remember him, was a checkout slip.

It has been 2 years since the Las Vegas vacation and Andie is back on track with her foolproof “life-plan”, and getting ready to marry the company doucher, Bradley. Just one thing stands in Andie’s way… Apparently, she is married….

This book was never on my radar, I’d never heard of Elle Casey, but I’m really glad that I saw this book and decided to take the plunge. This is one I will for sure be re-reading!

5 stars
