Review: Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis

23435151RESCUE ME

Cedar Ridge, Colorado, is famous for crisp mountain air, clear blue skies, and pine-scented breezes. And it’s the last place Lily Danville wants to be. But she needs a job, and there’s an opening at the hottest resort in her hometown. What has her concerned is the other hot property in Cedar Ridge: Aidan Kincaid-firefighter, rescue worker, and heartbreaker. She never could resist that devastating smile . . .

The Kincaid brothers are as rough and rugged as the Rocky Mountains they call home. Aidan has always done things his own way, by his own rules. And never has he regretted anything more than letting Lily walk out of his life ten years ago. If anyone has ever been in need of rescuing, she has. What she needs more than anything are long hikes, slow dances, and sizzling kisses. But that can only happen if he can get her to give Cedar Ridge-and this bad boy-a second chance…

Jill Shalvis is one of my FAVORITE adult contemporary authors.  She always brings something a little more to the table with her books. If you haven’t read a Shalvis book, you’re really missing out. If you want something to compare her books with, I have a whole list. Susan Mallery’s Fools Gold series, Brenda Novak’s Whiskey Creek series, and Kristan Higgins Blue Heron Series. If you are any way interested in any of these authors or their contemp. romance series, then definitely check out this book.

Shalvis became a favorite for me with her Lucky Harbor series, and since then I have devoured every single one of her books. She is known for her witty characters, steamy scenes (not New adult steamy, but steamier than most Adult romances) and funny lines. I’ve never met a book by Jill Shalvis that hasn’t made me laugh.

I loved this book. I already knew it was going to be a win for me, because, I really enjoy this authors writing style, characters, and story-lines. Now this book isn’t perfect literature by any means, it’s a fun, light, feel good read. I wont say its my guilty pleasure, because I never feel guilty when it comes to reading Jill Shalvis, but it’s one that when I open her books, I automatically feel at home.

Lily Danville left town 10 years ago, after a very tragic accident. She wanted a fresh start where no one knew her name or her past. What Lily didn’t know is that when she ran-away from her problems, she was leaving behind a heartbroken Aidan.

10 years later and In need of a job, Lily finds herself at home in Cedar Ridge, Colorado. What she didn’t know was that when she returned home to take a job at a salon that her best friend Jonathon had offered her, was that she would be working at the salon, that the Kincaid brothers (one of those brothers being Aidan) owned (inside their resort of course).

If you like those muscular firefighter/search and rescue kind of guys, then Aidan will be the perfect hero for you! He is definitely in the running for my top 5 fictional book boyfriends!

Lily is a great heroine in this novel. I feel like she is nothing too out of this world, us real women can definitely relate to her. She loves her chocolate and junk food, she is deathly scared of snakes, and she actually, gasps, makes mistakes! who would have thunk!

I of course rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, any book that can make me feel the feels is a winner to me!
