Other tasters’ notes: HEA. Sweet. Funny. Dirty. Muddy. Wet. Inspired by a real professor.
Professed by Nicola Rendell is by far one of my favorite student/teacher novels I have read to date! This book was yummy, the characters were fun, the plot was on point, and the writing was flawless! This is Nicola Rendell’s first book, and she really hit a home run with this one!
Let’s start with how this book begins…. The masked party was brilliant. It was hot and it had me hooked. The whole mystery behind it was delicious. I would elaborate but no spoilers!
The characters were great, I have to say Lucy was my absolute favorite secondary character, and I really cannot wait to get her story! She was super fun and in your face! Loved her!
Naomi was an insta-love character for me. She was just so sweet and easy to connect with, I think that is what is so magical about all the characters, the author wrote them in a manner that made it feel like I was actually connected to them. Any author who can do that is truly talented.
Dr. Ben Beck, was Hot HOT HOTTT! Need I say more???
Rendell has a very unique writing style. Her story telling didn’t feel like a story at all. I can’t put into words what I am trying to explain, just know when you read this novel, it will be a truly unique experience. The story line while not original, felt like it was totally original. Rendell really put her magic in it to make it feel like something I have never read before.
I love a good forbidden romance and this student/teacher novel is definitely forbidden! It will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end! I cannot recommend this book to everyone enough! Read it and you will understand what I cannot put into words!
Rendell, Please give us Lucy’s story, I beg you!
Everybody’s eyes still off of me, I grab the second puff and jam it in my mouth.
“Just wanted to say a few words to welcome our new Master,” Osgood says. Compulsory pause. Hand to God, he must practice this stuff in front of a mirror. “So I present to you all, with greatest delight and excitement, Professor Benjamin Beck.”
I pay no attention. I turn away so nobody sees me chewing while I pretend to gather up napkins from the coffee table. That’s when I hear a voice, his voice, that voice, saying, “Please, Dean, call me Ben.”
I freeze. Slowly, with little shuffles of my Danskos, I turn around and stop chewing.
It’s Ben. He’s in a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches.
It’s Ben. Ben is the Master.
I fucked the Master.
No, the Master fucked me.
Oh shit. Oh shit!
Except I can’t. I can’t take my eyes off him. And there’s nowhere to go. My mouth is full of artichoke cream, I’m in the crush of bodies, pinned next to the curve of the grand piano. I’m stuck, staring. At Ben.
Just the sight of him makes my whole body tighten, and I can literally feel myself getting wet. Let me feel you, beautiful. Let me feel it.
Osgood raises his glass and says, “Join me in our traditional Durham toast…”
At that moment, Ben’s eyes fall right on me.
His face says, Holy shit.
I clutch my cocktail tray. Oh God. What have we done?
All the fellows echo back, “Welcome, Master Beck!”
